The Stone House...

I first mentioned the Stone House back on March 7th as I rambled on about Geese Flying at Two in the Morning - it was one of several houses we were planning to visit.  We went - we saw - we LOVED the Stone House.

We were so excited to have our offer accepted - we had a New Home Sweet Home... to look forward to.  Our adventures in living in rental property would soon be over.  I am not liking this rental thing much.

The various inspections came and went - ahh but if it were as easy as that just sounded.  It was a hassle - not so plain and simple!  The financial negotiations didn't flow smoothly either.  I now believe the sellers realtor could have done her job better... much better - even as late as week before last she could have been doing a better job!

I've always believed that what is meant to be - will be.  We were prepared to walk away from this house - had even signed release papers and were already looking at other houses.  There were other possibilities - houses that were lovely, houses that were bright and clean (and some not so), some that had large workshop areas for The Engineer and some were even brand new.  But they were 'just houses'... this Stone House had character... it is more than 'just a house'.

And now after working through all the details - it will indeed be ours... the middle of June!

And look it has a picket fence too!

It's not about the Picnic...

This Memorial Day Weekend please remember...

It's not about the picnic, paddling around in a canoe, or hiking in the woods...

Arlington National Cemetery

It is about the Men and Women who have served...

...and for each and every one of them - I am eternally grateful.

How you tell time depends on where you are in life...

Many years ago when I worked full time for a School Department Business Office I was aware of the Date. So much of what we did in the office was Date Driven. School calendar, maintenance contracts, bids for supplies and services, etc.

When I changed jobs and worked as a Nanny - I knew what Day of the Week it was because I worked on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. But I never knew what the Date was...

When I worked at the Quilt Shop - I was all about the Weekends... I worked the Weekends - the rest of the week didn't matter. If The Engineer had time off through the week it really messed me up because if he was home it seemed like it must be the Weekend... but I wasn't working... something was wrong!

Now that I don't work... and The Engineer works from home... I know when it's time for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner... that's it! Everyday is the same as the next or the last...

Unless he's traveling and I don't really have to cook... then I can tell the difference between day and night...

If the blinds are open.

And it isn't overcast and raining...

Happy Birthday Miss K

Keao 102

You were just too cute last year on your 3rd Birthday with your Happy Birthday Princess tiara!

But today is your 4th Birthday!  And the beginnings of a week or two of celebrations.  First in San Diego where you live and next week when you come up to PA to visit with Granny and Pops!

A Gift... to Ponder...

When The Engineer returned from his latest travels... this is what he brought me for my sewing room.

I guess this means I'm going to have to work on my Helpful Housewife/Domestic Diva skills...

...or not.

Do you suppose they get grass in their nose?

With the girls (our 2 dogs) being sick recently I've had to pay closer attention to who does what, where, and when.  I know - what fun I have!

After watching closely for a few days... I want to know... do they get blades of grass up their noses when they push their faces into the grass and sniff around?

Really - wouldn't it tickle and make you snort or something?

They are feeling better since my last post and I have been able to get a full nights sleep for the past 3 nights too!  This episode with them has made me glad I'm in my Granny age instead of my Mommy age... I'm not cut out for sleep depravation anymore.

Rambling today...

The girls have been sick and The Engineer has been traveling... so that means I get to tend to all their many smelly needs!

I haven't slept 2 full hours in a row for days and days now!  I AM SO TIRED!  They both seem to be having stomach issues so when they whine... I've got to respond - quickly!  I am to the point where I can hear when they roll over in their beds in the middle of the night.

I'd love to just tie them up out back and leave them there... but they'd be noisy about it I'm sure.  Uumm... you do know I'm talking about the dogs right?  LOL

Anyway - one had surgery on her leg a couple weeks ago and after demonstrating her interest in suture removal... she now has quite the sporty collar to wear.  She was rather annoyed that I was taking her picture and refused to smile...  And the collar in this picture is the one I had at home - the vet gave her a new one about 4 inches longer after she removed her stitches while wearing this one.  IMG00108The stitches were replaced with 14 Bright and Shiny staples - but I don't think she was impressed with the 'bling factor'.  She will be happy when this accessory is history.

Another trip to the vet today to make sure I'm not mistreating them by not feeding them for a day - and I'm not - she actually recommended not feeding them again today.  That will fix them for making me get up a bazillion times over the past couple nights!  They also are on some meds that will help resolve their problems.  I was concerned that this one had a problem related to the surgery... and I was feeling bad holding off on her pain meds which have to be taken with food.

I'll be glad when this adventure is over.  See that blue bedspread on the floor by her?  There are no less than 4 blankets laying around covering various parts of the carpet in this townhouse... it's much easier to wash them than to clean the carpet.

And the house... it is so in limbo - even after The Engineer stated to the real estate agents that this would be resolved by Wednesday... uuumm that would be today?  Yeah... Limbo.  I'm just too tired to care right now.  I'll be working on a list of houses to go visit this weekend... Yippee!  (I'm sorry if that didn't come off quite as sarcastic as I had intended - you could read it again and add just the right tone if you'd like.)

The girls are much quieter now - maybe that means they'll sleep through the night - and that would mean me too!

My Mothers Day Quilt

I've always called this my Mother's Day Quilt because the pattern came out of a quilt book my youngest daughter gave me for Mother's Day 2001.

 IM001308

It's one of my favorite quilts... it's a happy quilt don't ya think?  Mothers Day Quilt Close

I know it always makes me smile.

I hope y'all have a Happy Mothers Day!

A Picture to Ponder...

TaTas

I had to follow this truck to get a picture of this small bumper sticker... oh how I laughed!

Here is an update... I just had to Google this and here is a better picture and a link to Save the Ta-Tas web site...

savebm where you can get mugs, hats, some t-shirts, etc.  LOL  I may have to do some shopping... a fun way to support and keep this issue 'up front and visible'.
