Who's bright idea was this?

Surely we could all use more time... I've pondered it myself recently and even have a post or two still in the writing stage that I haven't had time to finish.

What I want to know is: Who's bright idea was it to give us a whole extra 24 hours once every 4 years at the end of February?

Really? Wouldn't we have all appreciated an extra glowing green spring day or another day during the heat of summer to play in the sand or better yet a nice crisp fall day full of sunshine and beautiful leaves.

But what they gave us was an extra day during winter... to bundle up and shiver against the cold.

Me, Myself, and I...

You know just who I am talking about...

I talk to Myself all the time... and it's usually all about Me.

I had a rather funny and disturbing conversation with Myself just the other day that I thought would be fun to share... sure made Me laugh.

I was sitting here pondering some recent weight gain and the need to get Myself out and get Me more better some exercise. My husband and I rent a townhouse that is surrounded by a golf course... so there is easy access to nice trails.

I thought to Myself that I needed to go walking everyday... maybe even try and get Myself out before lunch for a quick walk and again later when it's time for Me to pick up the mail. Now this is the funny part. I then thought to Myself - "hey I could even run for part of the trip if I get Myself a pair of running sneaks - it would be good for Me". Now this 'thought' I just had really makes Me laugh out loud because I haven't run anywhere in forever... like not since I was a child. OK maybe I chased my granddaughter around a bit... but she was 3 years old - it didn't wear Me out at all much.

After laughing at Myself for such a silly thought - I couldn't help but still believe I did run... I remember running... vaguely... where was it I ran? I vaguely remember running around our neighborhood in MA... I can almost see Me doing it. But that can't be true - although I 'remember it' I'm pretty sure I would never drag Myself outta my house to do such a thing. But it all seemed so real to Me...

For crying out loud... was that a dream I was remembering? Could a dream have felt that real to Me that I could have convinced Myself that I actually could haul my butt around the neighborhood - running? Me? Ha -Not likely!

I then had one of those moments where I questioned the sanity of Myself... I couldn't for the life of Me figure out why it seemed so real... yet wasn't.

There is only one question that Me, Myself and I would like the answer to... if I dream of excercise - does it do Me any good? I could probably dream Myself skinny in no time if it did.

What do You think? I mean besides the fact that I need to find someone other than Me, Myself, and I to have a conversation with.

I've been Tagged Twice... 7 Random Things

I've been tagged by 2 people with this... Thanks Teri and Giz -- so here goes - in no particular order -- but first...

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Since I've been tagged twice... here are 14 things about me...

One: I always stop. When they play the National Anthem on TV for a NASCAR race or a sporting event - I stop what I'm doing and I watch. I don't continue sewing, or cooking, or talking - I stop and I watch and I listen. Each and every time it moves me - I get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.
Two: I hate doing laundry. I taught my kids early to do their own laundry... DH use to do his also but now that I'm the Domestic Diva / Helpful Housewife that I am I do both of ours. But I still don't turn clothes right side out - if it comes to me inside out and the washer doesn't turn it right side out... it gets folded that way.
Three: I don't like to argue a point with folks. I'm perfectly happy letting you go off and be wrong than to stand my ground to prove I'm right. I figure if it's important - you'll figure it out and if not... then it don't matter anyway.
Four: I enjoyed history, science, and math in school. Since we moved a lot I enjoyed learning the state history for the different states we lived in. I was always fascinated by science whether it was studying about the life in our oceans, the geology of our earth, or the weather that surrounds us.
Five: As a kid I loved to run. I remember living in Maine, Ohio, North Dakota and Kansas (just to name a few) and running out in the fields of grasses or wild flowers. Just running around... being a kid. Now I'd be happy to just walk fast in a field of wild flowers.
Six: Sometimes I wish I was more than I am. You know - had gone to college, had some sort of professional career - that sort of thing. But then I know that if I had done that I wouldn't have the kids that I have and they wouldn't be the people they are. I love them and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. So - really deep down I am content to have what I have and be who I am and do what I do.
Seven: I love Sci-Fi and Action Adventure shows and movies. I'm not interested in the blood and guts horror movies.
Eight: I'd rather run naked up the highway than to host a garage/tag/yard sale. I hate them, hate them, hate them!
Nine: I love to travel. Be it by car, train, or airplane - I wish I could do it more.
Ten: I have a hard time accepting compliments concerning my quilting... I'm actually still surprised that others like what I do or like the colors/fabrics I put together.
Eleven: I love old houses. I love the character of them - the detail - the workmanship.
Twelve: I love flowers - they just make me happy.
Thirteen: Plain ice cream is OK - but put nuts and chocolate chips on it and you've got my full attention. Throw on some chocolate sauce and strawberries... ummm, ummmmm, yummy!
Fourteen: I spend way too much time with this laptop sitting on my lap.

I'm not tagging 7 folks because - anyone I could think of have already been tagged... so if you haven't done this kinda thing recently... please by all means invite yourself along and do the link back and all that stuff.

Now I really do have to go clean my house... The Engineer is sitting right over there at his desk working from home... and I'm sure he knows I haven't done anything constructive yet.

I'd like to order an extra 12 hours please...

OK - now I really should have known better... but it all started out innocent enough.

A couple facts.

My Engineer Husband travels on occasion.

He's not into a lot of series TV but he likes movies - especially old western or war movies.

Renting movies at a hotel is expensive - and my husband is fairly frugal - so that's not gonna work well for him.

So we recently put our thinking caps on... put out the fires - and then pondered some more!

We have Netflix - and have recently learned that they have a "Watch Instantly" program where you can watch from a selection of movies for free on the computer - and there are a lot of older movies available. So this is an option - but you do have to have a decent connection - so that may not always work if the hotel doesn't have free Internet service.

Thanks to our daughter who is an iTunes wiz - we recently learned that you can download rentals ($2.99 & $3.99) from iTunes - you have 30 days to start the movie and 24 hours to finish watching once you start the movie. So with some advanced planning on his part this might work out well for my husband.

I've got some limited experience with iTunes - started an account and downloaded some Holiday tunes this past December. I don't have an iPod - I just use it on my computer or drop it to a CD for my car or DVD player here at the house. My son gave me a $50 gift certificate - but until this weekend I hadn't even redeemed it.

I suggested to the kids that an iTunes gift certificate would be a good thing for their fathers birthday - seeing as he really doesn't need anything else.

On Sunday he was asking me questions about how to do this, that, or the other thing - so I had to go to iTunes and poke around - redeem my certificate, read the help menu on downloading movies, etc. What? Didn't you see the "HELP DESK" sign over my little spot on the couch? Of course I know all this stuff... or at least know where to look... and don't mind reading the 'help files' to learn something.

Anyhoo... so there I was being a good Domestic Diva/Helpful Housewife kinda gal when the Engineer asked me about PodCasts. Well - I kinda know what they are but not so much that I can 'splain it and sound intelligent all at the same time. I'd never poked on one and watched it - but I know they are suppose to be little videos or just audio clips. Anyway - there I was wanting to improve my knowledge base so I poked on the Podcast folder... and poked on some different catagories... and - well - you do know that this stuff is free... they have Grammar Girl podcast... she'd probably freak out the way I slaughter the english language... especially the way I leave sentences hanging out there unfinished with these 3 periods... I downloaded all of those Podcasts.

And there is Yoga, and a slew of National Geographic stuff, some cool NASA stuff that my sister is gonna hate me for when I show her, and some of this and more of that... and well... now I need another 9 hours of time to listen/watch the free Podcast stuff I downloaded on Sunday. And if I'm gonna order an extra 9 hours to my day I may as well bump it up to 12 and get a few more ZZzzzz's in while I'm at it.

Does anyone know where the button is to poke to order extra hours? There's gotta be one around the Internet somewhere... but I'm way outta time to go looking.

I need a good swift kick...

Do you ever get to a point where you just don't want to do anything, can't seem to accomplish anything, can't motivate yourself to get busy?

If I stand up and turn around - will somebody give be a good swift kick to get me going?

Mmmm, Mmmmmm Yummy!

I picked up a package of these pecan stickie buns a couple weeks ago at a country market. I've been thinking about them ever since... and finally made a trip up there today to get some more.
It was all I could do to put the cover back on them and put them away after taking the picture... but the 6 of them won't survive the evening - I promise!

Don't use hairspray naked...

Yeah, that's my lesson for today... Don't use hairspray naked.

I'm always more than happy to learn new things... and share my findings! So this is my lesson for today.

Those of you who know me know that I'm all about quick and easy short hair. Just look over at the picture of me with my Granddaughter in the side bar - yep that's us being chomped on by a great white shark. You'll see - my hair is short and straight and there ain't NO FLUFF to it at all. I've only seen 2 different stylists over the past 20 years and neither of them has ever sold me any 'hair product'. I don't like stuff - I especially don't like sticky stuff - just blow-dry my hair, shake it out and I'm good to go!

Well... I have enough to think about with trying to find a new Dr., Dentist, Eye Dr., insurance folks, etc., bla, bla. bla! So I figured I'd just let my hair grow out... you know the path of least resistance is doing nothing at all - right? RIGHT!

But my bangs are hanging in my eyes... and if I part it - it doesn't stay over there <<<< like it should because it has no body. So I went to the store and picked out something that said it was a root lifter... and also got a hair spray that holds without being sticky.

This morning I tried them out after my shower. Dried my hair using the root lifter to add a bit of body - brushed it into place and spritz, spritz, spri..... yikes!! That hair-spray tickles when the excess spray hits ya... if you haven't slipped into your robe yet...

And that's my lesson for the day - ya gotta put your clothes on before you spritz your head with hair-spray.
