Univ. Class Projects

Southampton Quilts in Massachusetts is offering a Quilt University this year to help quilters finish up their PHD (Projects Half Done) and MD (Mostly Done).  I was quite excited to be accepted by Professor Beth as an "ON LINE" Student (since I live in Pennsylvania) and to also be accepted into the "Coop Work Study Program" (since I also hang out and teach at a local shop - Piece By Piece Quilt Shop).

I can't show up to class but hope to dedicate my Tuesday and Thursday evenings to working on these projects and will try to call in to gab with my fellow class mates to report my progress to the Professor.

Here is my Class Project List.  I will update this list as needed and mark items COMPLETE when they are ummmm complete.

COMPLETE!!!!!!  MD - Swimmies Pattern by Lisa Boyer:  First up is the project that really does have a time line… it was due nearly 2 years ago when my grandson was born.  Now I don’t want to lead anyone astray… this top was finished long before my grandson was even conceived.  My daughter loved it and asked if I’d finish it for him.  Needless to say it’s still not quilted and needs to be finished and mailed before his 2nd birthday… he’s a turkey.  So I think I have enough time… if not it will be a Christmas gift!

Everything else is in no particular order…

MD - Scrappy Lattice from Focus on Florals – quilt has been finished and quilted - needs binding made and applied.  I'd like to finish this and get it on my bed...

Focus on Florals 003

MD – Circus Quilt – trim threads from washing, glue baste the binding (again) and sew (somehow I don’t seem to have proof of this quilt? I’ll get a picture later)

MD – Homeward Bound from 40 Quick Cut Quilts by That Patchwork Place  – glue basted binding needs to be sewn (before I make the mistake of washing it).

Homeward Bound 002

PHD – Peas in a Pod out of a Kim Diehl book Simple Comforts by That Patchwork Place.  Pieced blocks are finished - need to finish the applique blocks and assemble.

Peas in a Pod 003

PHD – Serendipity out of the same Kim Diehl book - Simple Comforts.   I have all the backgrounds pieced and am in the process of the machine appliqué.  This picture doesn’t show the pieced sashing but it is pieced as well.

PHD - This is a kit I purchased at the Quilt Odyssey Show at Hershey this year.  Civil War Flying Geese by Calico Corner in Carlisle PA.

Quilt U 004

** COMPLETED ** PHD - This is another find from the Hershey Show… Star Whimsy out of the Star Savvy Laps From Fats.  The quilt at the show in the booth was lovely… and they had sold out of all the books and kits.  I selected a Moda fabric line… Looking Back by Brannock & Patek - the stars are looking lovely!  Everything for the stars are cut and bagged, and I’ve completed several stars.  This will hang at Piece By Piece Quilt Shop when it's complete as a sample.

PHD - This is a Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville) Mystery Quilt free pattern I started more than a year ago… I pinned that third row of pieces onto the block a long time ago – and there they sit.  So if nothing else I need to sew those seams so that I can get the pins out before they rust…

Quilt U 003

COMPLETE - PHD - I don’t have a picture yet of Heart Crazy by Buggy Barn Quilts.  This is my second Buggy Barn quilt… I hope I love it as much as my last.  I need to make it as a sample for a group of ladies from NJ that want to come out and take the class,  I've selected pinks, browns and creams - should be pretty!

*** COMPLETED PHD - BOM Sample for the Quilt Shop.  Pattern is Holidays At Home, Fabric is one of the Strip It lines by Faye Burgeous called Metropolis.  The picture of the whole quilt leaves a lot to be desired - all I had was my phone so I'll have to update that another day.

PHD -    Kim Schaefer's Calendar Quilts - I'll be making a total of 12 wall quilts using this publication from C&T.  Actually I'll also give it it's own page so that all the pictures can stay together and not clog up this page too much.  January thru Dec are complete!  Check out this page for the complete list and pictures.
